Storing contaminated food can lead to cross-contamination, where bacteria from high-bacterial-load foods in the fridge can spread to other items. This increases the risk of food spoilage, particularly affecting children's health as they are more susceptible to imbalances in the body.


Leftover food often lacks essential nutrients, as high-heat cooking methods can deplete the food's nutritional value. Prolonged refrigeration further diminishes the nutrient content of the food, making it less beneficial. Individuals with weak digestion, particularly Vata types, should avoid consuming leftovers to prevent digestive issues.


Leaving leftover rice overnight can lead to a significant growth of bacteria, which can cause gastrointestinal diseases upon consumption. In severe cases, it can result in food poisoning, acute gastroenteritis, and more. During hot weather in the summer, leftover rice in a rice cooker is more susceptible to spoilage. Therefore, it is best not to consume spoiled leftovers left overnight. If the smell and taste of the leftover rice remain unchanged and there are no signs of spoilage, it is generally safe to reheat and consume, but be cautious of the portion size and avoid excessive consumption.


Despite the drawbacks of eating leftovers, it is sometimes inevitable in our busy lives. To minimize risks, it is recommended to consume leftovers within 48 hours at most. For instance, the common belief that reheating leftovers makes them safe to eat may not hold true, as bacteria can multiply rapidly between 5 and 60 degrees Celsius. Food left out of the fridge for extended periods may harbor harmful bacteria.


In daily life, it is recommended to have a diet that is fresh and clean. Apart from rice, one should also consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to provide the body with essential vitamins. Additionally, it is important to avoid picky eating and an imbalanced diet. A balanced nutritional intake ensures that the body receives the necessary nutrients, thus preventing malnutrition or digestive issues.
